Big News for the New Year

January 10, 2009 | by Amber Naslund

Many of you have been following my exploits here for the last year as I’ve been kicking around the marketing and social media world, doing consulting, and subjecting you to all my scribblings.

Well the last bit isn’t going to change, but there are some big things afoot with just how I’m going to be affecting the social media sphere.

Today, I officially accepted the opportunity to join my long-time client, Radian6, full time as their Director of Community. You’ve heard me say that I’m all about figuring out in nitty-gritty terms how all this social media stuff applies in a business context, and now I’m going to experience that that first hand. I was honored that the team at Radian6 thought enough of me that they wanted me as a more permanent part of their team.

David Alston and Marcel LeBrun are a couple of professionals I really respect, and what they’ve done to advance social media monitoring and engagement is exciting. They “get it”, and they’re relentlessly driven to make this space better for business. So I’m thrilled for the opportunity to bring my expertise to the table and put my social media chops to the test for a fast-moving brand like this. And they’ve built an amazing team around them. Can’t wait to meet each of them in the coming weeks.

I’ll be responsible for doing just what you’d imagine a director of community would do: connecting with and engaging Radian6’s clients, and working hard to steward their brand through social media. You’ll see me on Twitter the same AmberCadabra I’ve always been, but it’ll now be with a balance of personal and professional interests.

As for the blog, it’s here to stay, and I’ll still be contributing to Marketing Profs Daily Fix on a regular basis. But you’ll also see me contributing content and ideas to what Radian6 is doing and building online, so stay tuned for that. And you’ll still catch me at events and conferences, both speaking and attending, so I can’t wait to meet you in person if I haven’t already.

All in all, I’m beyond excited for the opportunity to take what I’ve learned and bring it to a company like Radian6. I believe very much in the power of community and culture to build brands, and now’s my chance to roll my sleeves up and get to work.

Thanks to David and Marcel for the opportunity, and thanks to each of you for being a part of my community. I know we’ve got nothing but killer things to talk about in 2009.

Your posts, presence and new position alone put Radian6 on our radar here at Brainstorm.

Interested to learn more about they’re offerings as you forge your new role there.

All the best. :)
